Medication Management

Many psychiatric disorders will require a two-pronged approach for successful treatment: medication combined with therapy or counseling. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication to help with anything from ADHD, anxiety and depression. Medication management is a vital part of this equation, as not all medications will be received or tolerated by patients in the same way.

That’s why monitoring medications, their side effects, and their possible interactions with other medications is critical. A big part of what psychiatrists do is provide psychiatric medication management and assessment. We understand that this can seem pretty scary, especially if you’ve never taken such medications before or have taken them but experienced bad side effects.  Our staff is here to help you with your journey the whole time so you can reach your end goal.

Many individuals have a hard time understanding medication management. Innovative Psychiatry-Medication Management understands this and that’s what makes us different in Henderson, Summerlin, and Las Vegas. There can certainly be a lot of unknowns; however, understanding how a psychiatrist can help you and truly knowing what medication management means is key to feeling comfortable and at ease with the recommended treatment plan.

Because our mental well-being is directly connected to our overall physical health, stress and trauma can leave us feeling:

  • anxious
  • hopeless
  • overwhelmed

When these feelings go untreated for long periods of time, major psychological and physical illnesses can result. In addition, associated behaviors can become addictive and destructive.

That’s why it’s equally as important to have regular physicals and checkups from your primary care physician. The other part of the equation is to get regular mental health checkups at Innovative Psychiatry-Medication Management and our sister company Oasis Counseling.

Now Offering Creyos (formerly Cambridge Brain Institute)

We are now able to accurately assess attention deficit disorder through a testing system through Creyos (formerly Cambridge Brain Institute). This Test is available for patients at a very affordable cost and the fee is waived for Medicaid patients.

The Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1 – Part A) is a multipurpose instrument for determining the severity of ADHD symptoms in adults, while also allowing for the monitoring of symptom changes and effects of treatment over time. These six questions are the most predictive of symptoms consistent with ADHD. Part B assesses Planning, Spatial Working Memory, Attention, Response Inhibition (Focus during interference), and Sustained Attention Span (Sustain processing in repetitive, boring or distracting situations). This test can be used pre and post treatment to indicate improvements.

Dementia

For older patients, we also have available a dementia screening test. This is especially useful for at risk patients, serves as a baseline for future risk comparison and those who have a fear of developing dementia. This test is more affordable and is a very economical costing thousands of dollars less than a thorough dementia screening.

These tests are offered in our office on a computer and take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Please talk to our office staff to schedule your appointment today.
